Wyoming’s Legislative Wrap-Up: Important Bills for Education and Athletics

cboelter4

I’m pleased to share with you the latest developments from the Wyoming Legislature. Recently, with the help of my votes, we have passed two significant bills aimed at enhancing our state’s educational institutions as well as ensuring fair athletic competition. These new decisions reflect our commitment to supporting our students and upholding the integrity of our educational system.

The first decision, “SF0028: ROTC Endowment Program” passed January 24, 2025, pertains to educations and involves the creation of an endowment for the University of Wyoming’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). It establishes accounts for the endowment as well as outlines the procedures for distributing and transferring funds to the University’s ROTC programs. This act also allows for the investment of funds in equities to possibly grow the fund, specifies how the fund will be spent or how it can be spent, and requires regular reporting and updates on fund’s status.

The second decision, “SF0044: Fairness in Intercollegiate Athletics” passed January 23, 2025, relates to both educational and athletic groups at the University of Wyoming as well as each Wyoming community college institution. This act mandates that both groups must participate in intercollegiate athletic competitions according to players’ biological sex.

It’s clear that these decisions will have lasting impacts on our state and it’s educational institutions. We look forward to seeing the positive effects of these new acts and continuing our work for the betterment of our community.

Thank you for staying informed and engaged with our legislative process!
